Christopher Robbins is an Assistant Professor of Social Foundations at Eastern Michigan University. He studies the relationships between cultural politics, social policy, and pedagogy, primarily looking at the ways in which the processes of criminalization and militarization have intensified in public institutions and public culture more generally under neoliberalism and neoconservatism. Another research area of his is contemporary racial politics, where he is interested in analyzing the ways in which neoliberal cultural politics has redefined racial discourse, racism and social exclusion, and issues of racial equality and social justice in the post-civil rights, “color-blind” era.

Christopher’s books include:

  • The Giroux Reader
  • Expelling Hope: The Assault on Youth and the Militarization of Schooling
  • Pedagogy and the Promise of Democracy: Henry Giroux’s Social Thought (in progress)
